Germany are the winners of the last edition of World Cup, that was held in 2014 in Russia and they defeated Argentina by 1-0 in the final to lift the World Cup trophy.

Let's take a look at the five teams that are favorites for the title in this edition of the FIFA World Cup

1. Germany

The four times World Cup winners have always been a strong side in international tournaments and especially in World Cup. Having topped their WC qualifying group, they must have one eye on the title.

Germany has an exciting team that is a mixture of freshness and experience. Youngsters like Leroy Sane, Joshua Kimmich, and Timo Werner are set to leave their names in world football and much will be expected of them.

Experienced players like Thomas Muller, Toni Kroos, Mesut Ozil, and Manuel Neuer will need to take up responsibility for the national team.

2. Brazil

Brazil has been winners of the World Cup on five previous occasions and poses some threat to their opponents. Ever since the tragic 7-1 at the loss to Germany in 2014, Brazil has come a long way and proven to be much stronger.

They finished on the top of the CONMEBOL qualifying group with 41 points, 10 points ahead of second-placed Uruguay. The team is led by the world-class striker Neymar and supremely experienced Marcelo and Thiago Silva in the defense. Brazil is really strong favorites to lift the trophy.

3. Spain

Spanish football reached its heights in 2010 when they lifted the World Cup riding on some wonderful performances by the star-studded team. Spain dominated the world football over past few years winning several prestigious tournaments.

The team is a mixture of young and experienced players. They have players like Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba who are well-experienced stalwarts in their own positions.

Young talents like Isco, Asensio, Lucas Vazquez can make the difference whenever required.

4. France

The France national have undergone a resurgence in the last three years, with many players coming into the limelight that has shone for their respective clubs. The squad is full of young talented players and includes several experienced leading players.

The French cavalry will be led by Antoine Griezmann from the front alongside Kylian Mbappe, Olivier Giroud. Stars like Paul Pogba and Thomas Lemar, while Blaise Matuidi and N'Golo Kante function as the defensive midfielders. The defense has Raphael Varane and Samuel Umtiti who can give strikers nightmares.

5. Argentina

Argentina has selected a strong team that can probably go all the way to win the title. Argentina often dominates the tournaments they participate in and somehow fail to clear the hurdle in the final. That has been the case in World Cup 2014, Copa America 2015 and Copa America Centenario 2016.
