Thomas Müller is a German professional football player who plays forward or midfielder for one of the world's best teams, Bayern Munich, and the German national team. He is the vice-captain of both his club and the national team. The 33 years-old currently receives an annual salary of £15,392,000 from his present club.

Early Life

Thomas Müller was born on September 13, 1989, in Weilheim in Oberbayern, West Germany. His mother, Klaudia Müller, is a school teacher, and his father is Gerhard Müller. He has a younger brother whose name is Simon Müller. He began playing football at the age of nine.

Club Career

Thomas Müller began his youth footballing career with the local club, TSV Pähl, in 1993, he was at the club for seven years, and later, he joined the youth squad of Bayern Munich in 2000. He was then promoted to Bayern's second team and played six successive seasons for the club's second team.

Analyzing Müller's progress, he was finally named to the 1st team in 2008. Müller signed his first contract with the club in February 2009, confirming a two-year contract with the club.

Müller made his official debut for the club on September 12, 2009, in a match against their arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund in which he scored two goals in a 5–1 victory. He rounded off September, becoming the Bundesliga Player of the Month.

In February 2010, Müller signed a new contract with Bayern Munich, valid till 2013. He started the season regularly developing a tri with Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery. Thomas scored the first Hattrick of his career in the same season. He was on the short-list for the FIFA Ballon d'Or award in the 2010-11 season. He still plays for the club, winning 421 caps and scoring 138 goals.

International Career

Thomas Müller has represented his nation Germany at both junior and senior levels. He earned six caps for the under-21s and scored a goal. He was named in the senior squad for a friendly match against the Ivory Coast on November 12, 2011.

Müller scored his first World Cup qualifying goals on March 22, 2013, scoring Germany's opener and final goal in a 3–0 away win over Kazakhstan. He scored the first hat trick in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He won the man-of-the-match title in a 4–0 win against Portugal on June 16, 2014, in Germany's tournament-opening match.

He helped his team to win the 2014 FIFA World Cup, winning a silver Boot as the tournament's second top scorer. He has won over 115 caps for his national side scoring 44 goals.

Thomas Müller is a married man; he married his long-term girlfriend, Lisa Müller, a semi-professional equestrian who works on a farm. After having a relationship for four and a half years, the couple decided to tie their knots on December 1, 2009, along with his teammates and his family in West Germany, his hometown.
