Qatar National Team 2022 FIFA World Cup Soccer

Qatar, the 2022 FIFA World Cup host, has directly qualified for the tournament for its appearance in the finals. Qatar's national team has never qualified for any single FIFA World Cup since the country's independence in 1971. This is the first time the Qatar squad will be playing in this biggest football event.

However, Qatar has been a regular participant in the continental AFC Asian Cup. The national team of Qatar has always fallen short in the final stage of World Cup campaigns. Their major wins include the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, 3X Arabian Gulf Cup (1992, 2004, 2014), 2014 WAFF Championship, and 2006 Football at the Asian Games.

Qatar was the second team from outside the Americas to participate in Copa America and was invited for the first time in 2019. Further, the national side was the second team from Asia to play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup and was invited for the first time in 2021.

Felix Sanchez currently manages the team.
