UFC 229 already was a most awaited event with Conor McGregor returning back to the octagon in a bout against his fierce rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. Now the possible addition of Tony Ferguson's fight against Anthony Pettis has made it more exciting.
Former UFC interim Lightweight champion Ferguson will make his Octagon comeback after exactly a year since he fought Kevin Lee at UFC 216. He will more likely take on the ex-champ Anthony Pettis in Las Vegas. However, the bout is yet to be made official by the UFC.

Pettis seems quite confident with the bout to happen as he made a tweet of the possible fixture against Ferguson.

Ferguson (23-3, 13-1 UFC) was scheduled to fight Khabib at UFC 223 for the lightweight title but later pulled out due to injury.
Lately, El Cucuy had been hinting his return to UFC if he gets to fight three opponents. He was also waiting for the replacement the Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor headliner should either man pull out.

Meanwhile, No. 10 Pettis (21-7 MMA, 8-6 UFC) defeated Michael Chiesa via submission at UFC 226 in July. He is on a mixed result in last 6 games while his possible opponent Ferguson is on a 10-match win streak.
UFC 229 is headlined by the most awaited 155-pound title fight between the undefeated Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov and the former 2 division champion Conor McGregor. It is scheduled to take place on Oct. 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
