Jaime Munguia is a Mexican professional boxer who held the WBO junior middleweight title from 2018 to 2019. He is ranked the world's best active junior middleweight by BoxRec, 5th by The Ring magazine, and 7th  by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, as of September 2019. Turned professional in 2013, he compiled a record of 37 (30 wins by KO)-0-0 (win-loss-draw).

Career

Turned professional in 2013, Mangula compiled a record of 28-0 before challenging Sadam All on 12th May 2018 for the WBO junior middleweight title. He won the title, which happens to be his career's 2nd title after  WBC Latino light middleweight title. 

In his first defense for the WBO junior middleweight title, he had a unanimous decision to win against former light-middleweight champion Liam Smith, on 21st July 2018. Further, he scored a third-round technical knockout win over Brandon Cook on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin II for another successful defense of his world title on 15th September 2018.

On 13 April 2019, Munguía faced Dennis Hogan to defend his title. He won by controversial majority decision. Further, he made the fifth defense of his WBO light-middleweight title after defeating Patrick Allotey by fourth-round technical knockout on 14 September 2019 in Carson, California.

On 11th January 2020, he made his middleweight debut against Gary O'Sullivan and won the bout via eleventh-round technical knockout. 

On 30th October 2020, he faced Tureano Johnson and won the WBO Inter-Continental middleweight title. He retained the title defeating Kamil Szeremeta on 19th June 2021.
