Well, prior to the UFC bout, Nate Diaz used to play in World Extreme Cagefighting(WEC), Strikeforce, and Pancrase, where he has the record of 5 wins over 2 losses. While in World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) in 2006, Nate fought against then-champion Hermes Franca for the title of WEC Lightweight Championship, however, lost by submission. Nate made his 3 consecutive wins in all fights in 2008, where he won against fighters like Alvin Robinson, Kurt Pellegrino, and Josh Neer. His total prize money of 2008 was reported to be $190,000.
But the year 2009 didn't go well for Nate, out of 3 matches, he won only one match against Melvin Guillard earning $78,000 on September 16, 2009, in UFC Fight Night: Diaz vs. Guillard while he lost against other 2 matches to Clay Guida and Joe Stevenson. Nate competed against Josh Thomson in UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Melendez scheduled on April 20, 2013, but lost the fight getting himself paid only $15,000.
