Max Verstappen began karting at the age of 4. He participated in the Mini Junior Championship in his province of Limburg. In 2007, Max won the Dutch Minimax Championship. The next year, Verstappen stepped up his game and participated in international karting. CRG signed him to race in European championships. In 2011, Max won the WSK Euro Series and was picked for the Intrepid Driver Program. At the age of 15, Verstappen won the 2013 World KZ Championship, the highest karting category. Later he switched to racing cars.
2014 was the year in which Verstappen drove in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship. In August of the same year, he joined the Red Bull Junior Team after testing a Formula Renault 3.5 car.
