Forbes list of World’s Highest-Paid Athletes: Conor McGregor named to the list for 4th Straight Year

Despite making only one Octagon appearance in 2018, Conor McGregor still managed to take a place in the Forbes list of World’s Highest-Paid Athletes. The former lightweight champion pocketed $47 million in 2018 including $32 million fight purse and $15 million from endorsement deals.

Conor was placed at no. 4 spot last year earnings $99 million with the $85 million coming off the fight against Floyd Mayweather, however, he was dropped out of top 20 as he only fought once in 2018 against Khabib Nurmagomedov in a losing effort.

The Notorious was paid $3 million as his fight paycheck while the remaining amount was for the PPV sales. Besides, he was also able to grab a lucrative Reebok deal that would pay him $5 million over a year. His other endorsement deal includes with Beats Electronics, Burger King, Monster Energy, and Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Moreover, his Proper No.12 Irish whiskey business also supported well.

McGregor made into the Forbes list for the first time in 2016 which made him the first mixed martial artist to be named in the list and has been added for the 4th straight year.

Several boxing players made their place ahead of McGregor this year. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez replaced Conor at no. 4 with $94 million earnings while Anthony Joshua landed at. no 13 despite the loss. Lionel Messi took the no. 1 spot followed by his fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
