Miguel Angel Garcia Cortez, known as Mikey Garcia, is an American professional boxer who is best known for holding multiple championships in four weight classes, including the lineal junior welterweight title since 2018. He is best known as Mikey Garcia. In 2019, he challenged for the IBF welterweight title. As of October 2019, ESPN ranked him as the world's tenth best active boxer, pound for pound, and also listed as the world's best active light-welterweight by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board (TBRB).
A native of Oxnard, California, US, Garcia, was born on 15 December 1987, under the star sign of Sagittarius. He has a stature of 5 ft 6 in and a weight of 61 kg. In 2013, he held the WBO and Ring magazine featherweight titles, the WBO junior lightweight title from 2013 to 2014, the WBC and IBF lightweight titles between 2017 and 2019, and IBF junior welterweight title in 2018.

The 32 years old Mikey is a married man. He is happily married to his long time girlfriend, Fatima Garcia. They met each other while they were students at Pacifica High School. The couple has three children together, two sons, a daughter.
Being the father of three, both he and his wife Fatima like seeing smiles on children's faces. They visited Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and distributed toys, coloring books, souvenirs, tee shirts, and hats to the sick children.

Mikey Garcia was born to Mexican parents in California, US. His parents were strawberry pickers. His father, Eduardo, was an amateur boxer as well as a trainer of world champion boxer Fernando Vargas at La Colonia Youth Boxing Club. He has a older brother, Robert Garcia, who was a professional boxer and a former IBF Super Featherweight Champion. His oldest brother, Daniel, was also a boxer and trainer.
Garcia grew up in a gang-related neighborhood in Oxnard, California.
Growing up in a family where many family members were in the boxing profession, it was only natural that Garcia would eventually go into boxing. At the age of 14, he started his amateur career, where he won several awards, including the silver medal at the National Junior Olympic Championship.
