Champions League Round of 16 first leg: Real Madrid defeats PSG with a brace from Ronaldo Soccer

Defending Champion Real Madrid came from behind to beat French league leader PSG in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 held in Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday. Two goals including one from the spot kick by Ronaldo and another from right back Marcelo gave Real Madrid crucial 3-1 victory in their home ground.

Paris Saint Germain took the lead in the game with a goal from Adrien Rabiot. However, Balon'd Or winner 2017, Cristiano Ronald equalized shortly after with a penalty goal. Madrid got the penalty after Kroos was fouled by Giovani Lo Celso inside the 18-yard box.

Ronaldo did no mistake to score his 100th goal for Real Madrid and became the first player to cross the mark.

The first half ended with a 1-1 draw.

Second half substitutions by Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane happened to be the game-changing decision. Bale replaced Benzema first, then Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez came in place of Isco and Casemiro in the 79th minute. Since then, the attack started looking more stronger as Ronald went on to score his 11th goal of the season. The shot taken by Asensio was blocked by PSG goalie Areola but Ronaldo did no mistake to sent the ball through the net with a fine touch with his knee.

Asensio was again the key man in Real's third goal. Marcelo sent the ball behind the keeper with a fine shot after Asensio set a beautiful pass with a low cross.

Real Madrid will visit Parc des Princes on March 7 for the second leg.
