He won the fight via TKO as well as retained the title in the next fight he had on 16th December 2017 against Mark Anthony Geraldo. 

On 19th January 2019, Oubaali won the WBC bantamweight title at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Paradise, Nevada, the US against Rau'shee Warren. He retained the title two more times against Arthur Villanueva and Takuma Inoue. On 29th May 2021, Nordine Oubaali will be fighting against Nonito Donaire at Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California, U.S. to defend his WBC bantamweight title.
