Mateo Kovacic is a professional Croatian football player who plays midfielder for Croatia's national team and English Premier League Club, Chelsea.

After playing for the junior team of Dinamo Zagreb, he joined the main team in 2010. Kovacic made his professional debut against Hrvatski Dragovoljac on November 20, 2010, and scored his first professional in the exact match.
He was part of the successful Zagreb team winning the Croatian Cup in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons. The Croatian midfielder later signed with Italian Serie A football club AC Milan for a reported transfer fee of €15 million in 2013.
