Dejan Lovren is a professional Croatian football player who plays as a center-back for Croatia's national team and the Russian League for Zenit Saint Petersburg.

He also played for Croatian football clubs such as Dinamo Zagreb and Inter Zapresic, French football club Lyon, and English football club, Southampton.

Dejan played for Croatia for various youth teams and made his senior international debut for Croatia in 2009.

Dejan was later transferred to his fellow Croatian football club, Inter Zapresic, as part of a loan deal and was part of the team that went on to win the Croatian Second Football League for the 2006/07 season.

He signed a four and half year contract with French Ligue 1 football club Lyon for an estimated transfer fee of €8 million plus € 1.5 million in 2010 and made his debut against AS Monaco on January 24, 2010.

The Croatian defender was part of the successful team that won the Coupe de France for the 2011/12 season.

He signed a four-year contract with English professional football club Southampton for an estimated transfer fee of £8.5 million in the summer of 2013.

Dejan made his debut against West Bromwich Albion on August 17, 2013, and scored his first goal against  Liverpool on 21  September 2013.

He played for the English Premier League football club Liverpool, with whom he signed a four-year contract for a transfer fee of £20 million and made his debut against Borussia Dortmund on August 10, 2014. The player eventually moved to Russia and joined Zenit on a three-year contract for €12 million after a six-year spell. 

Dejan Lovren’s International  Career

He has played for several Croatian football clubs as their youth teams, he made his senior international debut for Croatia against Qatar on November 8, 2009.

The Croatian defender scored his first international goal against Malta during the 2012 UEFA Euro 2012 Qualifiers on September 2, 2011.

He represented Croatia at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was included in the 23 Croatian men's squad led by the captain, Luka Modric, for the 2018  FIFA World Cup in Russia, along with players such as midfielder Marko Pjaca and defender Ivan Strinic
