While measuring the official weight of Darren Till for his main event bout with Stephen Thompson at the UFC Fight Night 130, he came high with a surplus of 3.5 pounds of what was required.
Although the fighter came heavy, Thompson has still agreed to fight with the heavier Darren. Likewise, for his surplus weight, he has agreed to relinquish 30% of his fight purse to the Wonderboy.
But, why is Till still overweight?
The welterweight contender stated in an interview with the MMAjunkie that there's never an excuse for missing weight. It was like losing for him.
He has also revealed why he had come high of his expected weight. When he started cutting weight, he got an emergency phone call. It was a family matter and he had to go back and forth to the hospital for such reasons.
The fighter only had around 11 pounds to go so, he tried sauna, steam, bath, and everything he could to lose weight. But, he was totally worn out.
He also stated that he was embarrassed by it. Hopefully, he will be weighed again today and will need to reach a certain weight.
The MMA fighter also offered a 100% of his purse to prevent the main event from getting damaged. "Money will come sooner than later. I offered 100 percent."
Till has already started drinking and filling back up but, he will have to pass the medicals and train to fight for the match tonight. He shows his fierceness saying that he is mentally prepared for anything.
With this match, Darren will get an opportunity to stop the Wonderboy, while, Stephen will attempt to stop the 25 years' momentum.
