Brazil has been the most successful nation in the world cup so far winning the titles for the record five times (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002) and has managed to reach to the final in two more opportunities. It is the only nation to have played every edition of the FIFA world cup and has managed to be selected directly without playoffs. It has the best overall performance in the world cup with record 70 victories and 17 losses in 104 World Cup matches.

Brazil is also the nation besides Argentina, Spain, and Germany to have won World Cup away from its continent and only nation to win it away in four times. The greatest rival of Brazil is Argentina. Some other historical rivals are Italy, France, and Netherlands.
Brazil currently ranks 2 in the FIFA world ranking and has been on the top of record times and duration. The lowest ever ranking is 22nd as of June 2013. Pele is the record highest scorer for the Brazilian team with 77 goals followed by Ronaldo while Ronaldo is the highest goal scorer for Brazil in the World Cup finals with 15 goals followed by Pele. Cafu is the most capped player in the history and the most capped player at the current squad is Dani Alves. Current Brazilian National Team head coach is Tite with Neymar as team captain.
