Yamaguchi Akane is one of the most successful and talented women’s singles badminton players in the world. She has won two gold medals at the World Championships including four gold medals at the Asian Championships, and one gold medal at the Uber Cup. She is also the youngest player ever to reach the world number one ranking, achieving this feat at the age of 20 in 2018.

Yamaguchi was born on June 6, 1997, in Katsuyama, Fukui, Japan. She started playing badminton at the age of six, inspired by her older sister who was also a badminton player. She joined the Japanese junior national team at the age of eight and soon became a prodigy in the sport.
