Pelt started his career in sportscasting at WTTG-TV for Fox in 1990 and after 5 years service, he moved to Golf Channel, where he worked till 2000. Soon after that, he worked for ESPN after joining in 2001 with his annual salary of $1.5 million and recently in November 2017, with his contract extension with ESPN, he owns a huge salary of $4 million as reported.

Scott, blessed with economic benefits, is also blessed with a happy family including his son, Sam Van Pelt and daughter, Lila Catherine with his wife, Stephaine. However, the current location of his home and its worth is undisclosed.
But, back in March 2014, he put his West Hartford, Connecticut mansion on sale. The 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3,500 sq. ft. brick colonial-style property on a nice one-acre, was bought by Pelt in 2005 for $691,000.
The house which went through three price changes during listing eventually was sold for $695,000.
Scott's got his hand in the philanthropy works too. He is famous for his inspirational video talking about the fight against cancer, supporting Pittsburgh running back James Conner.
In April 2017, he gave his word of helping out his alma mater in a major way. A student asked the ESPN anchor that they need $1,255 donation to fulfill their goal for the University of Maryland student-run sports radio station and the answer was a big yes as per the tweet of Jake Russell.
