Rick Bowness is a well-known Canadian Ice hockey coach and a former player. He played in the league from 1975 until 1984. Bowness started working as a coach in 1988. Rick is currently working as the head coach for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League.

Rick Bowness's Journey to NHL coach 

Rick started his career as a player. He started playing hockey from a very early age. The coach began his junior hockey career with the Quebec Remparts of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Bowness listed his name for the 1975 WHA Amateur Draft. Tulsa Oilers drafted playing in the Central Hockey League. The player made his National Hockey League debut in Atlanta Flames's 1975-76 season. 

Rick moved to several clubs before retiring in the 1984 season. While playing for the Sherbrooke Jets, He started working as the head coach. In the 1984-85 season, Bowness became an assistant coach of the Winnipeg Jets under head coach Barry Long. He spent his next five seasons with the club and then moved to Maine Mariners in 1989-90 AHL. The coach led the club to a 31–38–11 record in the first season. 

Rick had a decent season with the club and then moved to Ottawa Senators as their first head coach. He worked with the club until 1996 and moved to New York Islanders. In the next two decades, The coach moved to several other clubs and joined Dallas Stars as their assistant coach in June 2018. The following year, Rick was named the interim head coach and the  Stars' 24th head coach in the franchise history in October 2020.
