Novak Djokovic is a professional Siberian tennis player. Currently, he is ranked in the world no. 4 in men's single tennis players. According to the recent record, Novak holds the highest match winning rate. He is to hold the No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings and he is also the first Siberian player to win the Grand Slam titles. Besides his professional playing career, he also works as a coach.

Early life

Novak was born on 22 May 1987 in Belgrade, SR Serbia, Yugoslavia. His parents are Srđan Djokovic and Dijana Djokovic. He is the eldest son of his family. His father was a professional skier. Novak attended the local school of his own birthplace.

He developed his interest in playing tennis at the age of 4. For the higher studies, he joined the high school of his local place and completed his graduation from there.

Professional career

Novak played his first junior tournament at Junior Davis Cup for players under 14 in 2001. But he lost the tournament in the finals. He also reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2004. Moreover, he also participated in the Jr French Open and Jr US Open. Whereas, he did not play at Wimbledon. He started his professional career in 2003.

At the starting, he just played the  Futures and Challenger tournaments. Well, he made his first Grand Slam tournament appearance in 2005 Australian Open but he got defeated in his first match. However, he was able to reach up to the third round in both the US Open and Wimbledon.

After he played the French Open, he became one of the 40 best players in the world singles rankings in 2006. Novak won his first ATP title at the Dutch Open in Amersfoort by defeating Nicolás Massú in the final.

On April 9, 2006, he won the Davis Cup after defeating Greg Rusedski in the final. In 2007, he came in the world's top 10 after his Masters Series. He also reached the fourth round in Australian Open.

He won the Master Series title in 2007. During his game at Wimbledon, he was forced to leave the match in semi-finals due to his elbow injury. He defeated world No. 3 Andy Roddick,  world No. 2 Nadal in the semi-finals, and world No. 1 Federer in the final at his game in Rogers Cup. He played a great role in the 2007 playoff win over Australia and led his team to the 2008 World Group.

In 2008, he won his second Grand Slam final. Moreover, he also received an Olympic Bronze Medal. Besides these, he didn't win any other cups. In he reached finals in ten tournaments. But he was able to win only five major titles. He performed well in the tournaments of 2010. He won his first Davis Cup title and also became the runner up in US Open. His path of victory continued in 2011 as he won three majors and five masters and became the world no. 1 player.

In 2012 he won the Australian Open. In the following year, he won his three majors and remained the world no. 1. His victory continued in 2013 as he won his fourth Australian Open title and three masters. Moreover, in 2014 he won second Second Wimbledon title, four masters and again became No. 1. 

His performance became better in 2015 and won three majors, six masters, eleven titles. Furthermore, he won Nole Slam, four masters in 2016. Due to his elbow injury, he is not able to perform his best in 2017. However, he has won his first non-major grass title. On 21 May 2017, he announced that Andre Agassi will become the new coach of their team from 2017 French Open.

Personal life

Professional tennis player Novak is blessed with a happy married life as well as family. He has a wife and a son. He married his beloved wife Jelena Djokovic in 2014.

Their marriage ceremony took place in Montenegro's Aman Sveti Stefan resort. the bride was on the gown designed by Sarah Burton. The couple had been dating each other since childhood and had already been about a decade of their relationship. Jelena was already pregnant at the time of their wedding.

These couples met each other during their high school since 2005 and started dating each other. They have a son named Stefan Đoković.
