Mehdi Taremi’s Career

During his youth career, Taremi played for Bargh Bushehr, Hayat Bushehr, and Bargh Bushehr. He played for the youth team of Iranjavan from 2006 to 2009. On July 1, 2010, Taremi was promoted to Shahin Bushehr from Shahin U-19 in Summer 2010. Before leaving the club, he scored 1 goal in 7 appearances.

On July 1, 2012, Taremi was transferred to Iranjavan FC on a two-year contract and got Number 9 Jersey. He scored 12 goals in 22 matches in the 2013-14 and was named the league's second-highest scorer after Mokhtar Jomehzadeh.

On July 1, 2014, Taremi moved to Persepolis FC in the summer of 2014 on a two-year contract and made his debut against Naft Tehran F.C. in a 1-1 draw, replacing Reza Norouzi in the 90th minute. Taremi later scored his first goal against Zob Ahan in August 2014. In the 2014-15 season, he was honored with the Best Striker Award of the 14th Persian Gulf Pro League after scoring many goals and providing quality assists.

Later, Taremi left the club in 2018 after making 88 appearances and scoring 45 goals. On January 12, 2018, Taremi moved to AL Gharafa with a transfer fee of £443K on an 18-months contract. He scored the first goal for the club against UAE’s Al Jazia in the 2018 AFC Champions League. On February, 16, Taremi scored his first goal over AL Kharaitiyat SC. 

In early 2019, Mehdi moved to Rio Ave in Portugal and signed for a season. The player appeared in thirty games and scored eighteen goals. In early 2020, He moved to Porto and signed a four-year contract. He was the second-highest goalscorer and the third-highest playmaker through assists in the 2021/22 season.

On June 11, 2015, Taremi made his professional debut in a friendly match against Uzbekistan. He also played against Turkmenistan in World Cup Qualifier in June 2015.
