Morteza Pouraliganji represented Paykan Babol, PAS Tehran, Persepolis and Naft Tehran in his youth career. He played for Naft Tehran until 2013.

After being promoted, Pouraliganji began his professional career with Naft Tehran on July 1, 2010. He scored his first goal against Paykan in a 4-1 victory. Before ending his career with the team, he scored 2 goals in 73 appearances.

On February 25, 2015, Pouraliganji was transferred to Chinese Super League, TJ Teda with the transfer fee £396K on a one-year deal. He made his debut against Henan Jianye in April 2015.

Pouraliganji scored his first goal for the club against Guangzhou Evergrande. He scored 2 goals in 26 appearances until 2016.
