Atletico Madrid

While Hernandez was still at a Madrid’s youth setup, he was called up by manager Diego Simeone for La Liga match against Villarreal CF, on 9th November 2013. However, he remained unused in the 1-1 draw on the following day.

On 26th April 2014, Hernandez made his senior debut in a 0-1 defeat against Real Sociedad B for the Segunda Divisio B Championship. During the season, he made his appearances in three further matches. He also signed a new contract with the Madrid in June which would last until 2018.

On 3rd December 2014, Hernandez made his first-team debut in a 2-0 away victory against CE L’Hospitalet for the Campaign’s Copa del Rey. Moreover, his first appearance in the Spanish top level took place in a 4-1 away victory over Athletic Bilbao.

On 10th August 2015, Hernandez signed an extension deal with the club until 2019 and was definitively promoted up to the senior squad.  On 15th March 2016, he replaced injured Diego Godin for a extra time of the round-of-16 tie with PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Championship League.
