Danny Garcia Defeats Brandon Rios via KO in 9th Round Boxing

Danny Garcia defeated Brandon Rios via knockout in the 9th round of their Premier Boxing Champions bout at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Garcia ended the fight with a powerful right-hand punch and has increased the possibility of the rematch against WBC and WBA champion Keith Thurman or a clash against IBF champion Errol Spence Jr.

The Philadelphia fighter entered the ring for the first time since his defeat to Keith Thurman in a WBC title unification fight.

I felt the ring rust a little bit in the beginning,"  said Garcia. "He's a good inside fighter and he was giving me some good uppercuts. He came to fight. I came to box, and I did that. I came to bang, and I gave the fans what they wanted — a knockout.

Garcia  (34-1, 20 KOs) is a former lightweight champion and remained the world champion for six long years following his victory over Hall of Famer Erik Morales. He lost the title after his loss to Thurman in March.

A native of California Rios (34-4-1, 25 KOs) is also the former lightweight champion.
