Chelsea and Liverpool to battle for Goalkeeper in summer transfer -but it's not Alisson Becker Soccer

Chelsea F.C. and Liverpool F.C. are set to battle at the summer transfer over F.C. Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, according to reports from Spain.

Cillessen joined the Spanish side on 25 August 2016, on a five-year deal worth €13 million ($15.33 million) plus another €2 million ($2.6 million) in add-ons. Clissen currently plays as second fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen and his chances in the first team are extremely limited at the Nou Camp.

Previously there were rumors, the Reds are approaching AS Roma's Alisson Becker, while Chelsea also being interested in the Brazilian stopper.

Following Loris Karius' Champions League nightmare, Liverpool is looking for a new goalkeeper, while with Thibaut Courtois' long-term future at Chelsea is in doubt - the team also might have to look out for other options.

Thibaut Courtois has been linked with a move to Real Madrid C. F. this summer and will be out of contract at the end of next season with Chelsea. Talks over a new deal will probably get underway once the Belgian returns form the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

According to Barcelona-based publication Mundo Deportivo, the Blues are believed to be targeting a summer move for Cillessen.

Speaking last week to the Fox Sports Netherlands, Clissen revealed that decision will be made by the middle of the next month,

I think that I played well in the matches I had in the Copa del Rey.

I need to wait patiently. The only thing I know is that Barcelona won’t sell me.

Arsenal and Liverpool aren’t bad clubs but if Barcelona say, ‘We love you,’ then I’ll accept their decision and continue there.

I’ll wait until we return on July 16 to see what they’ve decided. I don’t know anything. If the club wants to keep me, I’ll accept that. I signed a five-year deal with them.
