Bogdan Bogdanovic was born on August 18, 1992, in Belgrade, Serbia, FR Yugoslavia to parents Dragan Bogdanovic and Koviljka Bogdanovic.

He began practicing basketball since a young age and was part of the team that took third place in the 2009–10 Serbian junior league.
Bogdan Bogdanovic began his professional career in basketball in 2010 when he signed with Partizan Belgrade, a Croatian basketball team. He did not get to see much time in the court during the first two seasons with the club. He saw more time at court in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 season.
Bogdanovic left Partizan Belgrade in 2014 and signed a four-year contract with the Turkish team Fenerbahçe on 11 July 2014. Even as a new addition to the team, Bogdanovic was given more minutes in the court in the new team.

Bogdan Bogdanovic was picked by the Phoenix Suns in the 2014 NBA draft with their 27th overall pick. His rights were traded to the Sacramento Kings on 23 June 2016 along with Georgios Papagiannis, Skal Labissiere, and a future second-round in exchange for the draft rights of Marquese Chriss.
In his first NBA season, he ended with an average of 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists playing in 78 games. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team as well. He continues to play for the Kings along with teammates Buddy Hield, Harry Giles, and Troy Williams.
