Aleksandar Kolarov is a professional football player who primarily plays as a left back and occasionally as a center back for Serbian national team and for  Italian Serie A club, AS Roma.

He has played for English Premier League club Manchester City as well as Italian Serie A club, Lazio and represented Serbia in their youth team. He has played some of the major tournaments like the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Aleksandar Kolarov is currently the captain of Serbia National Team and is leading it in Russia World Cup 2018.

Aleksandar Kolarov was born on 10 November 1985 to mother, Ceca Kolarov, and father, Zivko Kolarov at Zemun, Serbia. He holds a Serbian nationality and belongs to Caucasian white ethnicity. Despite those situations, the Serbian defender started his playing career joining the youth rank of Serbian football club, Red Star Belgrade in 1999.

Aleksandar Kolarov’s  Career

Kolarov began his senior and professional career with Serbian SuperLiga club, FK Cukaricki with whom he signed a three-year contract in 2004.

After making 44 appearances for Cukaricki and scoring two goals, he transferred to fellow Serbian club, OFK Beograd in 2006.

He signed with Italian Serie A club, Lazio in 2007 for a transfer fee of € 925,000 and his first goal for Lazio came against Reggio Calabria on 30 September 2007.

Kolarov became a prominent player in Lazio defense line up and became a part of the team that went on the win the Coppa Italia in 2008/09 as well as  Super Coppa Italia in 2009.

After a successful spell at Lazio, it was confirmed that he has signed a contract with English football club, Manchester City worth £16 million on July 2010 and made his debut against Tottenham Hotspur on 17 August 2010.

He scored his first official goal for the club against Leicester City during the FA Cup match on 2 February 2011.

Kolarov played over 160 matches for Manchester City and scored 11 goals and in the process went on to win Premier League title in 2011/12 and 2013/14.

He is currently signed to Italian football club, AS Roma for a three-year contract deal worth €5 million.

Aleksandar Kolarov’s International Career

After a successful start with Serbian U-21 team that reached the final at the UEFA U21 Championships hosted by the Netherlands in 2007, he made his international debut for Serbia in 2007.

He is the captain for Serbian squad that features players such as midfielder, Adem  Ljajic, goalkeeper, Vladimir Stojkovic, and defender, Antonio Rukavina are among the some of the players that are expected to play at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
