Luka Modric was born on 9 September 1985 on Zadar, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia and started his senior playing career with Croatian professional football club, Dinamo Zagreb in 2003.

He later went to play for European football clubs such as  Zrinjski, Inter Zapressic, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Currently, he is playing for Spanish La Liga football club, Real Madrid CF with whom he signed a five-year contract for a transfer fee of £30 million in the summer of 2012.

After playing for several Croatian junior teams he made his full senior international debut for Croatia in a friendly match against Argentina on 1 March 2006.
