The most notable appearance of Nacer Chadli smashed the highlights after he scored the winning goal for Belgium in the Round of 16: World Cup 2018 against Japan in the last minute of the added time (90+4') on July 2, 2018.

After 2 goals scored by Jan Vertonghen and Marouane Fellaini for Belgium in the game against Japan, the 2-2 game was going to lead for the extra time game, but Chadli came off the bench to change the fortune of Belgium netting a goal in injury time.
