Stuart Alexander Bennett or famously known as Wade Barrett is a British professional wrestler and previously bare-knuckle boxer currently working for British independent wrestling promotion, Defiant Wrestling.

He is perhaps known for tenure in American renowned wrestling promotion, World Wrestling Entertainment where he performed under the ring name, Wade Barrett. Besides, WWE, he has competed at its developmental territorial system, Ohio  Valley Wrestling, and Florida Championship Wrestling.

Barrett is a former five-time Intercontinental Champion, 2015 King of Ring and 2010 NXT first season winner while performing under WWE.

Wade Barrett is of British Nationality. He was born on 10 August 1980 in Penwortham, Lancashire, England. He has cited Davey Boy Smith or famously known as British Bulldog as his childhood idol while growing up.

Barrett has got a bachelor degree in Marine biology from the University of Liverpool and also has worked in the science laboratory of the university. Before focusing his career at wrestling, he was also a recruitment consultant and was a bare-knuckle champion before he switched his career in becoming a professional wrestler.

He became a professional wrestling career in 2001 and trained under wrestlers like Al Snow and Jon Richie.

Barrett made his professional debut in 2004 organized by NWA UK Hammerlock Wrestling in the 30 Man battle royal. He later moved to the US  and joined the WWE’s developmental territorial system, Ohio Valley Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling.

Barrett later competed on the WWE’s NXT in their first season and made his debut against Daniel Bryan in a winning effort.

He won the NXT inaugural completion by defeating wrestlers such as Justin Gabriel and David Otunga in the series finale on 1st June 2010.

Barrett later formed a wrestling faction known as Nexus where he was the leader and feuding with WWE stars such as John Cena and Randy Orton.

He also formed and was with team wrestling factions such as The Corre and  The League of Nations where he teamed with wrestler such as Ezekiel Jackson, Rusev as well as Alberto Del Rio to name a few.

Barrett won his first championship by defeating Kofi Kingston in Smackdown episode aired on 25 March 2011 to win his first Intercontinental Championship title and later made his wrestle mania debut at Wrestlemania XXVII in a tag team match that also features wrestlers like Big Show and Kane.

After being released from WWE in the summer of 2016, he went to work for British independent e wrestling promotion, Defiant Wrestling in 2017 where he briefly served as the promotion’s general manager.

Wade Barrett’s  Personal Life

He currently lives in Manhattan, New York and received US green card in 2014. Barrett is a fan of his hometown football club, Preston North End FC.

Barrett has been previously in a relationship with WWE Diva, Alica Fox. They were reported to date for over two years.

The cause of the split revealed by Fox was that Barrett was an unemotional person. He also linked up with Candian TV host Rachel David. As per our record, he is single.
