Early Life & College Career

In East Lansing, Michigan, Tyasha Harris was born on May 1, 1998 to parents Shannon-Greer Harris and Bruce Harris. Her brother is named Bruce Harris, and her two sisters are named Talia Harris and Tamara Harris

In addition, she went to Heritage Christian School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was named Indiana Miss Basketball in 2016. While there, she led her team to four state titles. It was then that she went to the University of South Carolina and played for the famous coach Dawn Staley.

Harris had an outstanding college career with the Gamecocks. She made the All-SEC First Team three times and helped them win the NCAA championship in 2017. The star set a Gamecock record and ranked tenth in SEC history with 700 assists. 

As a senior, she averaged 12 points, 5.7 assists, 1.6 steals, and 38.4% from the three-point line. She earned third-team All-American honors from both the Associated Press and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Harris also received the Dawn Staley Award, named after her coach, and the SEC Female Athlete of the Year award for 2019-20.

WNBA Draft

Harris went into the 2020 WNBA draft. The Dallas Wings picked her with the seventh overall pick in the first round. In her first game, on July 26, 2020, against the Atlanta Dream, she scored 13 points and dished out four assists. She played for two years with the Wings and averaged 5.7 points and 2.7 assists per game.

As part of a three-team deal, Harris was sent to the Connecticut Sun in January 2023. Jonquel Jones, DeWanna Bonner, Jasmine Thomas, and Briann January were already on the team, and she joined them. She quickly proved to be an important player off the bench, adding energy, making plays, and playing defense. During her first season with the Sun, she scored 5.8 points and gave out 1.7 assists per game.

25-year-old player has also competed for the United States in foreign events. She won gold medals at the FIBA U19 World Championship in 2017 and the Pan American Games in 2019.
