Roman Zobnin was born as Roman Sergeyevich Zobnin on 11th February 1994, in Irkutsk, Russia. He is Russian by his nationality and his ethnicity is Caucasian-White. He grew up with his older brother Aleksandr Zobnin and was interested in soccer from a very young age.

Roman Zobnin's Career

During his youth career, Zobnin played at youth squad of Zvezda Irkutsk and Konoplyov football academy. He joined the senior squad of Akademiya Tolyatti in 2010 and made his senior Russian Second Division debut against FC Ufa on 30th April 2011. Before ending his career with the team, he played 23 games.

Zobnin was transferred to Dinamo Moscow on 1st July 2013, and made his Russian Premier League debut against FC Anzhi Makhachkala on 19th July 2013. After playing three-year for Moscow he was transferred to Spartak Moscow on 1st July 2016, in a deal worth £2.70 million.

Zobnin is the member of the team that won 2016-017 Russian Premier League and 2017 Russian Super Cup.

National Career

At the age of 15, Zobnin made his international debut with the Russia U16  in a 3-0 win against Turkey on 7th July 2009. Following that, he played 15 games for U17, 8 for U18, 13 for U19 and 4 for U21. He debuted professionally on 31st March 2015, in a 0-0 tie against Kazakhstan in a friendly match.

FIFA World Cup 2018

In May 2018, Zobnin was named Russia's preliminary 23-man team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. His team won their first match against Saudi Arabia via 5-0, where he provided the assist for the Denis Cheryshev's goal in 43rd minute.

In their second match, against Egypt, they dominated the scoreline with the final score of 3-1, in which Salah scored a conciliation goal in a penalty.

During the match, Ahmed Fathy scored an opening goal in 47th minute. Following this, Denis Cheryshev added the second goal in 59th minute. After three-minute of the second goal, Artem Dzyuba netted the third goal leading the team into 3 – 1 win.
