Fred is a Brazilian professional football player who currently plays as a striker for a Brazilian professional club Atlético Mineiro and his national team Brazil.

Early Life

Fred was born as Frederico Chaves Guedes on 3 October 1983. He was born to a Brazilan parent's Juarez Fred and Gizelda Chaves Guedes in Teófilo Otoni, Minas Gerais, Brazil. His sister is Karina Guides and his brother's name is Rodrigo Chaves Guedes. He began playing football at the age of 5, joining the youth academy of América Mineiro in 1988. He holds a Brazilian citizenship.

Club Career

Fred began his professional footballing career since 2003, being promoted from the youth academy of América Mineiro to the club's first team. His only season with the club ended up with a total of 26 appearances scoring 9 goals. He then made his move to their city rival Cruzeiro in middle of the 2004 season. His season in the club ended up with 41 goals in 43 matches. He further made his move to France joining the defending League 1 champions Lyon in 2005.

He finished his first season with 14 goals being the second-highest goalscorer in the 2005–06 Ligue 1 season and won his first league title with Lyon. His four successive season ended up with a total of 88 appearances and 34 goals. He then made his move to a Brazilian top-tier side Fluminense in 2009 and debuted for the club on 15 March 2009, scoring twice in a match against Macaé.

Fred was subsequently the captain of his team when they won the 2010 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. He set the record for most goals in the Brasileiro taking his tally to 44 goals in July 2011. He further made his move to the league's fellow club Atlético Mineiro on 8 June 2016. He made his professional debut for the club on 12 June 2016, in the Clássico Mineiro against rivals Cruzeiro scoring a goal. He has so far scored 17 goals in 43 league appearances.

International Career

Fred has represented his national side Brazil in several international tournaments. He made his professional international debut for his country on 27 April 2005, in a friendly against Guatemala. He has represented his national side Brazil in several World Cups. After winning 39 caps and 19 goals for his national side, he announced his retirement on 16 September 2014.

Some of his teammates in the national team were Neymar, Marcelo, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva etc.

Personal Life

Former Brazilian footballer Fred has married twice so far and is currently in a marital relationship with his then girlfriend Paula Armani. The couple tied the knots on June 15, 2015, after four long years of their affair. The marriage ceremony took place in Brazil among his family, relatives, and friends. The couple together has a child daughter named Geovanna Guedes born in 2016.

Fred was previously married to a model Amanda Goecking but was divorced in 2007. They together have a 7-year old daughter named GeovaBesidessides, Fred was into several other relationships in the past. He previously dated Ana Gabriela in 2007 which lasted for a couple of years. He also has an affair with a businesswoman named Ana Gabriela Côrtes that lasted for a short time.
