River Plate

After spending three years at Plates’ youth system, Funes Mori was promoted to the senior team in 2011. He played overall 108 matches for River Plate across five seasons, scoring ten goals.

Everton

On 1st September 2015, Funes Mori moved to Premier League club side Everton, signing a deal worth $11 million. He later made his Everton debut, coming on as a substitute, in a 3–1 home victory over Chelsea.

His first goal for the club came in a 3–3 draw with Bournemouth in November 2015. In his debut season with the club, he gained significant playing time at center back due to injuries and lack of form for the projected starting pair of John Stones and Phil Jagielka.

In a match against Liverpool, Funes Mori was red carded after he stamped on the ankle of Divock Origi, in a 4-0 defeat, which resulted in a suspension for three games to Funes Mori in April 2016.

In May 2018, Funes Mori was named in Argentina’s 35-man squad along with his teammates Nahuel Guzman, Gabriel Mercado, Lucas Biglia, and Paulo Dybala, for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. However, he did not make the final 23.
