Before the starting of 2011-12 NBA season, the Hornets traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies. After two years in 2013, he signed a four-year, $14 million contract with the Grizzlies.

Pondexter appeared in 189 games over his first three seasons in the NBA. But during 2013-14 NBA season, he suffered an injury in his right leg and ultimately, missed the rest of the season after undergoing surgery in December.

Pondexter returned for the 2014-15 season and played the first two months of the season for the Grizzlies.

Several injuries left him off the game and after a few surgeries, he returned to the game. In 2017, he was traded to the Chicago Bulls and played for the Bulls against the Toronto Raptors despite injured left hamstring. He was waived by the Bulls.
