Police investigate death threats to Liverpool goalkeeper' Loris Karius following UEFA Champions League defeat Soccer

Liverpool F.C. had a chance to create history, winning their sixth UEFA Champions League trophy on last Saturday night. But 'had'. The Red Devils played their best, but yes there were a few mistakes, including goalkeeper Loris Karius two mistakes, which played a major part in the defeat.

Liverpool lost the final 1-3 to Real Madrid, and they are heartbroken, for obvious reasons. Now Champions League defeat is hitting the Red evils hard. Mostly, Karius is facing sour blows after Saturday's match in Kiev, Ukraine.

The 24-year old German player and his family have been receiving hate messages and are in the center of social media threats.

As per CNN, police are investing death threats made to the goalkeeper.

The force takes social media posts of this nature extremely seriously and any offenses identified will be investigated,

Merseyside Police' statement reads.

Merseyside Police would like to remind social media users than any offenses including malicious communications and threatening behavior will be investigated.

Karius had an evening, had to get over in Kiev, with Real scoring from his mistakes in the 51st and 83rd minute.

In the 51st minute, Karius picked up the ball on the edge of his penalty area and appeared to roll the ball to teammate Dejan Lovren, unaware of the presence of Karim Benzema, who intercepted and netted the ball into the empty net.

And in the 83rd minute, Karius fumbled Gareth Bale's long-range shot. After the final whistle, as Real celebrated their three consecutive UEFA Champions League win, Karius buried his face into the turf and the apologized to Liverpool's supporters, with tears in his eyes.

Karius himself has asked for forgiveness form teammates, fans and all of the team's staff. He wrote the words of apology on Twitter, writing,

Haven’t really slept until now... the scenes are still running through my head again and again... I'm infinitely sorry to my teammates, for you fans, and for all the staff. I know that I messed it up with the two mistakes and let you all down...

Since then, teammates have come out in support of their goalkeeper.

When we win, we win together. When we lose, we lose together. Don't blame him,

defender Dejan Loren told the reporters.

It's easy to blame someone but we are in the same ship together and everyone gave him the best words that they can. He will come back strong. You cannot find the words.
