At the age of seven, Maksimovic began his career by joining Sports Center “Braca Milutinovic” in Bajina Basta. During his youth career, Maksimovic played for Kosmos Bajina Basta, Dover Athletic, and Sloboda Uzice.

In 2008, Maksimovic was promoted to the senior team of Slob.Uzice and received a first yellow card of his career in a match against Spartak Subotica.

On March 5, 2011, Maksimovic scored his first goal in Lucani. Later, he left the club after scoring 3 goals in 63 appearances.

On January 1, 2012, Maksimovic was transferred to Red Star with the transfer fee of €295K and made his debut in a match against Spartak Zlatibor in March 2012. For the club, he played 25 games and scored 1 goal.
