Nick Mullens is an American professional footballer who plays in the National Football League. He was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted in 2017 and he is currently in the active roster of the team.
Mullens played for the Golden Eagles of the University of Southern Mississippi for his college football. It was during his time at Mississippi that he got to meet his current wife.
Nicholas Clayton Mullens was born on March 21, 1995, in Little Rock, Arkansas to parents Suzanne and Mark Mullens. Mullens was a student of Spain Park where he played as a starting quarterback for the high school football team. At the end of his high school career, he had a total of 8,605 passing yards and finished his high school career with the 7th most passing yards.
Following his graduation from high school, he signed with the Golden Eagles of the University of Southern Mississippi. During four seasons from 2013 to 2016 of his college career with the Southern Mississippi, he played in 44 games and recorded 928 of 1,546 att.s for 11,994 yards and 87 touchdowns.
Nick Mullens was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017. He was selected as the fourth backup quarterback behind Brian Hoyer, Matt Barkley, and rookie C.J. Beathard. He was waived from the final roster cuts on September 2, 2017, but was signed him to the practice squad the next day. Mullens spent his rookie season on the practice squad but was signed as a reserve/future contract for the 49ers on January 2, 2018.
Nick Mullens was once again waived by the 49ers on September 1, 2018, and signed to the practice squad the next day. Once starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL and was sidelined, he was promoted to the active roster of the team. He was signed to a new contract for two years worth $1.05 million.

Mullens was the starter for the 49ers' Week 9 game against the Oakland Raiders. It was his professional regular season debut where he completed 16 of 22 pass attempts for 262 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also completed a 24-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Pierre Garcon in the first quarter. He also played for the team in the follow-up week game against the New York Giants.
