Miko Cro Cop is of Croatian nationality. He was born on 10 the September 1977 in Vinkovci in Croatia to father Žarko Filipovic and mother Ana Filipovic.

His father worked for a railway company as an electrician and was inspired by Belgian actor, Jean Claude Van Damme for his movie Bloodsport and began to practice with his father’s boxing materials while growing up.

He made his debut in kickboxing by emerging victorious against Jerome Le Banner, before taking up kickboxing, he was briefly into Boxing and competing at the World Amateur Boxing Championships.
Cro Cop later joined Pride FC in 2001 and defeated several players such as Fedor Emelianenko and created history by defeating Igor Vovchanchyn for the first time. He suffered his first loss against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and was also defeated by Emelianenko. The bout with Emelianenko was named fight of the year and voted the fight of the decade.
Cro Cop won his first ever MMA championship by defeating Josh Barnett in Pride 2006 Open-weight Grand Prix Championship in 2006.
Later in the same year, he signed with Ultimate Fighting Championships and made his official debut in 2007.
He joined and signed with MMA promotion, DREAM and returned back to UFC.
Cro Cop announced his retirement from MMA stated that he would pursue a career in kickboxing and after a handful of matches, he returned back to his old career, MMA and went on to win the Openweight Grand Prix.
He is currently with Bellator MMA with whom he signed in early March 2018. On 25th May 2018, he defeated Roy Nelson at Bellator 216 via unanimous decision.
