Matteo Darmian is an Italian professional football player who currently plays as a central defender for the Premier League club Manchester United and the Italian National Team.

The 28 years old professional is currently receiving an annual salary of around $5 million from his club. He has previously played for the clubs like Milan, Padova, Palermo, Torino, and Manchester United.

Early Life

Matteo Darmian was born on 2 December 1989, in Legnano, Italy. He was born to Italian parents and his father's name is Giovanni Darmian. He grew up playing football in the main square in Rescaldina and was trained by his father, Giovanni, who was one of the coaches of Oratorio team, U.S. CARCOR.

Talking about his nationality, he is an Italian. Darmian started playing football with the youth team of Milan in 2001.

Club Career

Milan

Matteo Darmian began his professional career in 2006, representing the Serie A club Milan. He made his professional debut for the club on November 8, 2006, in a match against Brescia. His Serie A debut for the club came on May 19, 2007, against Udinese. He appeared in only 4 matches in his 4-year stint with the club.

Loan to Padova

Darmian was further sent on a loan to Serie B club Padova until the end of 2009-10 season, on 17 July 2009. His official debut for the club came on November 28, 2009, in a match against Vicenza. Padova finished the season in 19th place and subsequently won the relegation play-off against Triestina. He scored only one goal in 20 appearances in one season with the club.

Palermo

He then joined the Serie A club Palermo on 11 July 2010, and his professional debut for the club came on 16 September 2010, in a Europa League game against Sparta Prague. He made his Serie A debut in the match against Juventus on 6 February 2011.

Manchester United

Darmian signed with the English club Manchester United, agreeing to a four-year contract with an option to extend, on 11 July 2015. His official debut for the club came against Club América during the preseason on 17 July 2015. He made his Premier League debut on 8 August 2015, against Tottenham Hotspur. He was voted "Manchester United's August 2015 player of the month" on 10 September 2015. He is the key player in the United's defense line along with Chris Smalling and Daley Blind.

International career

Matteo Darmian has represented his national team Italy in both junior and senior levels. He made his senior international debut on 14 June 2014, in Italy's opening game against England in the FIFA World Cup 2014. He scored his first international goal in the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Azerbaijan on 10 October 2015.

Darmian has won 36 caps for his national team scoring only one goal. Some of his national teammates are Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Lorenzo Insigne etc.

Personal Life

Matteo Darmian is married to his girlfriend Francesca Cormanni. The couple was dating each other since their teenage and after a decade of their relationship, they finally held their wedding on 15 June 2017, in a lavish ceremony in Legnano, Italy. 

Several players had attended the ceremony including his former teammates Alessio Cerci, Morgan Schneiderlin etc. The couple doesn't have any children yet.
