Career

Club

An academic product of Manchester City, Nmecha. In 2017, he was called to the main team making his debut in the EFL Cup on December 19, 2019. In the match, he scored the third penalty for Manchester City in their penalty shootout victory against  Leicester City.

On April 29, 2018, he made his Premier League debut, entering the match as a late substitute for Gabriel Jesus against West Ham United at the London Stadium. On July 29, 2018, he scored his first goal at the first-team level in the pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich in a 3–2 victory. For the 2018-19 season, Nmecha was loaned to Preston North End.

On August 3, 2019, he moved to  Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg for a season-long on loan deal. On January 3, 2020, his loan ended, and he joined Middlesbrough was on loan. His stint with Middlesbrough expired on July 31, 2020.

On August 21, 2020, Nmecha signed  Anderlecht on loan. On September 13, he scored a goal for Anderlecht in a 2–0 win over Cercle Brugge. Later six days, he scored a brace in a 4–2 victory against  Waasland-Beveren.

On 16th July 2021, Nmecha signed to VFL Wolfsburg. On August 21, 2021, he scored the winning goal on his Bundesliga debut for Wolfsburg in a come-from-behind 2–1 win against Hertha Berlin. His Wolfsburg teammates are Ridle Baku and Luca Waldschmidt

International Career

Nmecha was eligible to play for r Nigeria, Germany, and England. Nmecha played for England U16, England U17, England U18, England U19, England U20, and England U21. 

In March 2019, Nmecha declared to go to Germany internationally and was included in their U21 squad for the first time. On November 11, 2021, he made his international debut for Germany in a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein.
