On 29th April 2018, he made his Premier League debut, entering the match as a late substitute for Gabriel Jesus against West Ham United at the London Stadium. On 29th July 2018, he scored his first goal at first-team level in the pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich in a 3–2 victory.

On 16th July 2021, Nmecha signed to VFL Wolfsburg. On 21st August 2021, he scored the winning goal on his Bundesliga debut for Wolfsburg,  in a come-from-behind 2–1 win against Hertha Berlin. His Wolfsburg teammates are Ridle Baku and Luca Waldschmidt

International Career

Nmecha was eligible to play for r Nigeria, Germany and England.

Nmecha played for England U16, England U17, England U18, England U19, England U20, and England U21. 

In March 2019, Nmecha declared to go to Germany internationally and was included in their U21 squad for the first time.

On 11th November 2021, he made his international debut for Germany in a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein.
