Kamil Jacek Glik was born on February 3, 1988, in Jastrzebie Zdroj, Poland, to father Jacek Gilk and mother Grazyna Glik. Besides, Gilk holds both German and Polish Citizenship, as his grandfather was a German citizen.

Glik started his playing career in the youth ranks of Polish Youth clubs MosiR Jastrzebie Zdroj and WSP Wodzislaw Slaski.
The Polish defender started his professional career with Silesia Lubomia as a loanee from WSP Wodzislaw Slaski. In 2006, he joined Horadada. During his time at Horadada, he caught the eye of Real Madrid officials and joined their C team in 2008. After two seasons with the Spanish Club, he signed a four-year contract with the Polish club Piast Gliwice on August 6, 2008. He scored two goals in 54 matches for the club.
