Pivaric was a team member of Croatia Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, and Under-20 national team. On 14th August 2013, he made his international Croatian senior team debut in a 3–2 triumph against Liechtenstein in Vaduz.
In May 2018, Pivaric was named in Croatia’s preliminary 32 man squad for the 2018 World Cup along with his teammates Marko Pjaca, Ante Rebic, and Domagoj Vida.
