Darlington (Loan)

In early 2012, he moved to Darlington on loan. He made his debut on January 21, 2012, for the club against Fleetwood Town in a 1-0 home defeat. He made a total of 17 appearances for the club.

Again on February 25, 2013, Pickford was loaned out to Conference Premier club Alfreton Town on an initial month-long loan. The next day, he made Alfreton's debut against Hyde United in a 5-0 victory. Subsequently, his loan contract was extended until the end of the season.

On August 2, 2013, Pickford joined League Two club Burton Albion on loan. The next day he made his team debut against Cheltenham Town. He played a total of 12 league matches representing Burton Albion.

On February 8, 2014, he signed another loan deal with League club Carlisle United. That same day, he made his team debut against Gillingham in a 2-1 loss. His first performance influenced Carlisle United to keep him on loan for the rest of the season. He then went on to make 18 appearances for the club.

Pickford signed a loan deal for the 2014-15 season with League One club Bradford City on July 21, 2014. On August 9, he made his team debut against Coventry City in a 3-2 victory. Until his parent club recalled him, Sunderland, on March 9, 2015, he made an overall 18 league appearances.

Further, he played Preston North End on loan in the 2015-16 seasons.

Return to Sunderland

On January 1, 2016, he received a recall from his parent club. On January 9, he made his first-team debut against Arsenal in a 3-1 loss in the "FA Cup." Seven days later, he made his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

International Career

Pickford has represented his country in several tournaments at both the senior and junior levels. In October 2009, Pickford was first called up for the England U-17 national team to compete against Wales U-16.
