After being promoted from the youth system, Gary Cahill began his professional career with Aston Villa.

Burnley

Immediately after his promotion, he was sent on loan to Burnley on 8 November 2004. He made his club debut on 13 November, in the Football League match against Nottingham Forest. His only goal for the club came on 3 January 2005, against Stoke City. His only season with the club ended up with a total of 37 appearances and a goal.

Return to Villa

After the end of his loan spell with Burnley, he came back to Aston Villa. He made his debut with the club on 20 September 2005, in a match against Wycombe Wanderers. Chelsea

He further joined one of the Premier League's club Chelsea on 16 January 2012. He made his club debut on 5 February 2012, in a match against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. His first Chelsea goal came on 18 March 2012, against Leicester City. He gradually formed a strong defensive line with John Terry and David Luiz. He was appointed as the Chelsea club captain on 26 July 2017, ahead of the 2017-2018 season, after the departure of the Legendary captain John Terry. He still plays for the club.
