John Michael Nchekwube Obinna or famously known as John Obi Mikel is a professional football player who plays as a midfielder for Nigeria National Team and Championship League side Middlesbrough F.C. He previously played for English Premier League club, Chelsea FC and Chinese Super League club, Tianjin TEDA FC.
He made his international debut for Nigeria in 2006 and has represented Nigeria in 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup,2014 FIFA World, 2016 Summer Olympics as well as African Cup of Nations in 2006,2008 and 2010. Mikel was the part of the successful Eagles team that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations.

John Obi Mikel was born to mother, Irosu Obi, and father, Michael Obi on April 22, 1987, in Jos Nigeria. He holds Nigerian nationality. His father was a junior civil servant.
