John Michael Nchekwube Obinna or famously known as John Obi Mikel is a professional football player who plays as a midfielder for Nigeria National Team and Championship League side Middlesbrough F.C. He previously played for English Premier League club, Chelsea FC and Chinese Super League club, Tianjin TEDA FC.

John Obi Mikel was born to mother, Irosu Obi, and father, Michael Obi on April 22, 1987, in Jos Nigeria. He holds Nigerian nationality. His father was a junior civil servant.
