James William Nunnally was born on July 14, 1990, in San Jose, California to parents Deanna Johnson-Hales and Terry Hales.
Nunnally attended Weston Ranch High School in Stockton, California where he played for his high school basketball team. In the senior year of his high school career, he held an average of 22.1 points and 8.3 rebounds.
After completing high school, James William Nunnally enrolled at UC Santa Barbara and played for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos. During his college years, he was named to the All-Big West Tournament team for three straight years.
James Nunnally Professional Life
James Nunnally remained undrafted in the 2012 NBA draft. He signed a one-year deal with Kavala of the Greece Basket League but left the team after only three games in October of 2012. He returned to America and joined the Bakersfield Jam when he got selected by the team in the second round of the 2012 NBA D-League draft.
Nunnally was signed by the Phoenix Suns on September 28, 2013, but was later waived by the team on October 24, 2013. He was re-signed by the Bakersfield Jam in November 2013 who later traded him to the Texas Legends on February 20, 2014.
Though various NBA team such as Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers had signed a 10-day contract with James Nunnally during his time in the D-League, none of them offered a season contract to him.
Nunnally signed with the Fenerbahce of Turkey on July 28, 2016, and spent two seasons with the team and averaged 7.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists over two seasons playing in 64 games. In 2018 was signed by the Minnesota Wolves.
