Hugo Ayala Castro, a.k.a. Hugo Ayala is a Mexican professional footballer currently signed to the Liga MX side Tigres UANL as a center back. Before landing to the UANL, he played for the Atlas till 2010 from 2004. Apart from his domestic career, Ayala has been a regular player for the Mexico national football team.

In 2009, Ayala earned a first call-up to the Mexico national team. Under Juan Carlos Osorio, Miguel Herrera, and José Manuel de la Torre, Ayala has been a regular call-up for Mexico senior team.
On 31st January 2018, Ayala scored his first international goal in a 1-0 friendly victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On May 2018, Ayala was named in Mexico’s preliminary 28-man squad along with his teammates Miguel Layun, Edson Alvarez, and Javier Hernandez for the 2018 World Cup.
