Holmes has a mixed martial art career, making her undisputedly a multitalented personality in the field of martial art. Holm then changed her path from kickboxing to a slightly different sport, turning her attention to professional boxing. She has held several welterweight titles and managed to be one of the best female welterweight fighters in the world.

Holm has got her own fighting and kicking techniques.
She employs frequent lateral movement while working stiff jabs to an opponent's head and often waits to attack with counter-strikes, usually employing a straight left hand, often targeting the body with a fast side kick, pushing back a rush with a low oblique kick, and attacking the head with a left high kick.
Holm is also known for her punching combinations, typically done while her opponents are against the cage. Noting Holm's footwork as an asset in setting up strikes, former boxer Ana Julaton has described her as a natural mover. Holm was unable to snatch the UFC women’s featherweight title from Cris Cyborg at UFC 219, nor did she leave the octagon unscathed. She suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Cyborg in Saturday’s pay-per-view headliner at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
