An academic product of Yonago Kita Hogh School, Shoji signed his first official contract with the Kashima Antlers in 2011. During his debut season, Shoji did not play a single match, keeping himself to only sitting on the bench.
In the following two seasons, Shoji started to go on the field, but received, as a rule, only a few minutes of playing time. However, he showed perseverance and patience, which were rewarded, and from the beginning of 2014 season, he became the Kashima Antlers’ main player, both in the championship of Japan and national cups, as well as in the Asian Champions League.
With the club, Shoji won 2016 J. League Division and individually he was awarded J League Best Eleven consecutive time in 2016 and 2017. So far, he has played 144 matches and scored 7 goals for his side.
