With the hopes of keeping the World Cup dream alive, both the teams Japan and Senegal battled Poland and Colombia respectively.  And at the final whistle, both Japan and Senegal was on tears, one with tears of joy and another on tears of loss.

With Japan having -4 in fair play and Senegal with -6, Japan advanced to the Round of 16, and Senegal back home.

All Senegal needed to advance to the Round of 16  was a draw against Colombia, but after Yerry Mina's spectacular header directed Juan Quintero's right corner to kiss the net in the 74th minute, Senegal's journey in the 2018 FIFA World Cup kissed the dust.

While for Japan despite the loss against Poland, an early 3 points from their opening game of the tournament against Colombia on June 19 came into play.
